Toby Gorman, CSC, is an award-winning cinematographer whose work is defined by a commitment to narrative-driven visuals. Originally from the UK, Toby’s cinematic approach is rooted in a Fine Arts background, having earned his Bachelors and Masters degrees in the field in 2002.
Since relocating to Vancouver in 2005, Toby has built a prolific career spanning independent features, commercials, and international cinema—including three Indian feature films for which he received back-to-back Punjabi Film Awards for Best Cinematography (2013 & 2014).
His extensive television portfolio includes movies for Lifetime, Sony, and Hallmark, alongside Universal features like Cop and Half: New Recruit and Benchwarmers 2. He excels at building aesthetics from the ground up, most notably crafting the bold, signature look of Disney’s Gabby Duran and the Unsittables across its entire 41-episode run, and recently bringing his distinctive style to Netflix’s Ivy & Bean film trilogy, earning a CSC Award nomination for his work.
On the episodic front, Toby has demonstrated a mastery of established visual languages for hit series like Virgin River, Riverdale, and The Good Doctor.
Whether leading a series or collaborating on high-profile 2nd Units, Toby puts storytelling first, ensuring every frame serves the heart of the project.
